All the beautiful sunshine we've had lately has finally given me the opportunity to test out the UV Buggy Blanket that I was sent by the lovely people at uvbuggycover.com - for a while there, and with that flurry of snow the other week, I thought I'd never get the opportunity! Read on to see how we got on…

The UV Buggy Cover is a clever and super light-weight cover to attach to your buggy to protect your precious little one from the harmful effects of the sun. The extremely light and soft 100% nylon fabric protects your child from the sun with protection of SPF50+ which is fantastic. The shade it provides also helps to keep your wee one cool in the sun but the clever little cover is also wind and shower resistant, so ideal if you get caught out in any unpredictable weather (British or otherwise!). The velcro straps on each corner allow the cover to be very easily attached to most buggies (I can't actually think how you wouldn't be able to fit this to any model as it is very adjustable.) and when not in use, the UV Buggy Blanket folds into a very neat, slim and lightweight square which easily stows away or fits into a pocket. The blankets are easy to wash and iron and also come in a range of colours, a gorgeous hot pink (which is what I tested), a lovely bright blue and a neutral cream, which is perfect if you just can't decide!
The importance of protecting your child from the sun cannot be over-emphasised. Children naturally want to spend a considerable amount of time playing outdoors, and what could be better for their health and well-being than running about outside. These benefits are overshadowed however by the damage that can occur to young (or old!) skin when left unprotect and uncovered to the damaging UV rays of the sun. Research has shown that exposure to these harmful rays at a young age significantly increase the potential to develop devastating skin conditions in later life. It is down to us as guardians to protect our precious little ones as much as possible, and the UV Buggy Blanket is a fantastic and effective aid to help do so.
I found the UV cover to be a great addition to my sun-protection arsenal of sun-cream and sun-hat over the past weekend where we enjoyed some super-sunny walks with the dog. Because we were out walking for long periods of time, I found it reassuring to have the cover there to not only protect my little one from the sun, but also from the cooler spring breeze that kept popping up! When she fell asleep and the sun was in her eyes, I found I could adjust the height that I had the cover attached so that it could act as an extra bit of shade for her eyes which was brilliant! The blanket really does fold up into such a tiny space that it is so easy to take anywhere with you which I find such a bonus when every outing seems to look like a polar expedition is about to be embarked upon!
I also found an unexpected use for my cover when I was driving. The sun was shining in such a way that the car sun-shade was not keeping all the glare out of my tot's eyes and the moaning turned into screaming very quickly! I pulled over and was trying to think how I could block the sun out and then I remembered about the cover! I simply used the velcro straps and rigged it up - it worked as the perfect sun-blocker-outer and peace and calm driving followed!
The UV cover is such a great item to have, super handy and easy to use, an effective and protective tool against the sun which I think makes it fantastic value for money. It is simple and brilliant concepts like this that make you wonder why you didn't think about it yourself first!
